Second Year Feast

[Durriac]

OOC: Today, as some of you may know, is the Second anniversary of the founding of the Horde. So yeah. General reminising is encouraged.

BIC: *the ferret sat down in a large wooden chair near the head of the table. He poured himself a large beaker of October Ale, his favorite, and waited for others to arrive. He remembered fondly the feast last year, surprised that he had lasted yet another year on the Horde. He smiles faintly to himself as he muses of his experiences since coming to the Horde*

[Desko StrangeBlade]

Desko, strangely was the next to arrive. He silently walked into the room and and found a seat pretty close to the whole other end of the table. He didn't touch any food, he just sat there silently. He always found it customary to eat when everyone was presence. He looked down the table and noticed Durriac, but then simply remained silent as he turned and stared at the table.

[Typhoon]

Typhoon smiled as he walked into the Dining Hall, which was surprisingly quiet.

"Yet another anniversary."the badger thought. "It seems like the last one was just yesterday."
Typhoon realised he was early, and sat down at the further end of the table, saluting Durriac as he did.

The badger had no idea why he did that, seeing as he never had before, but it seemed more proper to be formal during that day. He hadn't been anything near formal at the last anniversary, but... he just did it anyway. He poured himself a glass of red wine and sipped it slowly.

[grenn]

**Grenn walked into the dining hall wearing his formal clothing. He sat down in front of Desko. He was new and hadn't really been at the horde for the start. **"Hey Desko."

[Dirk Thornclaw]

OOC: What a way to spend the third most wonderful holiday of the year (after christmas and my birthday) - doing homework all day

Wow...two years. That's pretty amazing if you think about it in comparison to other ROC sites. In this day and age, at least.

Oh man, do I have to give a speech again? *sigh* I'll post IC later, when I get a chance and the inspiration to.

I have to write another of those Horde history entries as well, don't I. *grumble*

Heh, I went back to look at the old history thingy and the 1st year feast...and spent the last 30 minutes reading through some old posts on the social court

I'm now starting a quote collecting thing.

Here's a couple I found from last years anniversary feast:

Dirk is still muttering under his breath, trying to remember his speech. Finally, he stood up, and waited for silence to fall.
Thump!
Silence gets back to its feet, takes its money, and walks off grumbling about what a bad job it has.

[Desko StrangeBlade]

Desko sighed as he saw Grenn in something formal. All Desko had was his same tattered old ragged clothing. He scratched his hea dnervously and muttered, " Hey...." To Grenn. He then began to stare at the ground.
Why'd I come? I look like crud.....god this was pointless.....oh well...'least there's food.

[Flameclaw]

Flame stepped in, only knowing that the feast was on by his new habbit of stalking beasts, mice being the best. Dirk had looked at his calender and exclaimed that the anaversery feast would be in three days time. That is why he found himself here, three days later, looking at the other beasts that were present. Durriac he knew from the assasination attempt on Truecreek, Typhoon he just knew, he'd met and gotten along with the badger since his first few weeks at The Horde. Grenn was also no stranger because of their meeting in the search for Jeff Shimmerripple. Desko was the closest to a stranger to Flame because their meeting was only short and rather uninformitave.

His paws made no noise on the flagstones, so the first sound he made after entering was to pull up a seat beside Typhoon and refill the badger's glass.

[Typhoon]

Typhoon was awoken from his reverie by a paw pouring wine into his glass. The badger had been thinking about the previous year's feast, what had transpired during his long absence, and his first days at the Horde.
Though he had not seen the beast that the paw belonged to, he already knew who it was. No one else had such long claws, all slightly charred too. Typhoon smiled and looked up.

"Ah! Good day to you, Flameclaw! Just thinking about the past... something specific in the past, in fact."

The badger's brow furrowed as he remembered what a drunken corsair had said to him thirteen months ago, during the badger's extended two-month leave. The purpose of the leave was to get back to his homeland. He got there, but he never came back. Or at least he was never to.
Typhoon picked up his wine glass and it was all he could do to stop his paw from shaking.

[Dirk Thornclaw]

Dirk finally enters the hall, striding swiftly to his designated chair and plopping down in it. Grabbing a flagon, without knowing what was inside, he takes a deep swig of it to quench his thirst. His eyes go wide for a second, the he chokes and sprays the beverage out over those near him. Coughing and hacking, he looks at Typhoon for a second and mutters "Not that rice wine again..."

Dirk leans back in his seat and sighs contently, trying not to cough out any more of the wine. He surveys the slowly assembling crowd before him, a small, proud smile twitching at his lips. Not everyone was here yet, so Dirk would wait to officially start the feast. But he hoped those already here would know enough of Dirk to know he wouldn't care if they started eating already. The mouse wasn't one for formalities.

Dirk was glad to see Durriac and Typhoon here, two of his old friends from way back in the early days of the Horde; their devotion was well appreciated. Desko he didn't know very well; he had the impression that the ferret prefer to be distant from those he didn't know. Grenn was new but already an energetic addition to the Horde. Flameclaw had arrived during Truecreek's reign, and Dirk hadn't had the chance to get to know him yet. The mouse sighed. So many new faces now. It certainly was not the old days anymore.

Turning to Durriac, he winked and asked "You got a speech ready to give?" Last year Dirk had forgotten his speech and had wasted too long a time trying to remember it; this year he was just going to make it up as he went along. But he would wait for more to join them. If more came soon. He wouldn't wait forever again.


OOC: If anyone is interested, here's the 1st year anniversary feast we had. And please note that "Truecreek" is actually me. When leaders change, they use the same admin account and just change the info.

**Grenn looked at Dirk and hoped he didn't mind that he began to eat. He grabbed a plate of scones and put some butter on it.**"Scones are really good eating."

[Durriac]

*he whispers back to Dirk* "Me? 'Course not. Besides, it's only fitting that the Horde leader go first. "

[Typhoon]

Typhoon sipped at his wine, surprisingly quiet, even for him. He was feeling very melancholy at the moment, for reasons he could not explain. It probably had something to do with the previous year's memories.

The badger was growing older, and all his old aches, pains, and wounds seemed to be opening up again after a momentary period of dormancy. The wounds that seemed to hurt the most were the ones that were given to him about thirteen months ago.

The beast that gave them would not be back to give some more to him, not that soon anyway. His paw was still shaking, not a sign of fear, but rather of old age.

**Grenn took a beaker of wine and poured himself some. It was really dark and rich.**

[Flameclaw]

As he wiped the rice wine from his face, Flame held a drumstick in his paw, weighing it, and weighing up the advantages and disadvatages of hurling it at Dirk.
The drumstick entered his mouth and exited it again quite quickly, this time meatless. Flame tossed the drumstick underarm and rather gently on a course that would bounce off the head of the mouse's chair and land down his back.

[Dirk Thornclaw]

Dirk was grinning at Durriac's response as he felt something sticky slide slowly down his back. (OOC: check out that alliteration! ). He reached behind with a grimace of disgust to pull up a a bone covered in saliva. He turned his head slowly to look at the other beasts, fasting and chatting casually. Who was the culprit?

A small smile formed on his face as an idea came to him: since he didn't know who did it, he'd just...

Grabbing a pawful of strawberry tarts, he threw one each at Typhoon, Flameclaw, Grenn, and Desko. After a second thought, he lobbed one at Durriac too - he knew the ferret wasn't responsible, but it wouldn't do to leave anyone out.

[Flameclaw]

It is rather hard to keep a close eye on someone without anyone noticing, but Flame managed it, so he was ready for the strawberry tart that came flying in a path that would catch him full across the face. He lifted his head a little and opened his mouth wide, only having a few crumbs escape his mouth. Typhoon didn't appear to be defending himself from the tart that was coming in his direction so Flame's paw found itself full of tart that was destined for Typhoon.

[Typhoon]

Typhoon was hardly what anybeast would call alert, even when he was in a normal state of mind. Which didn't happen very often. He had not even noticed the tart until he heard the sound it made against Flameclaw's paw. He looked up slowly and saw what looked like a paw covered in red stuff. Jumping up, Typhoon yelled ,"Flameclaw's bleeding!"

[Desko StrangeBlade]

Desko winced and actually smirked when he let the tart hit him dead center between the eyes. It slowly slid down his face. He then almost chuckled, but kept himself from doing so, when he heard Typhoon freak out. He figured he should tell Typhoon, but he wanted to see what would happen.
