OOC: Anyone can join this quest. BIC: Rinafera stood near the stern, gazing out to the sea. The Osprey was setting sail and the weather was perfect. Cool winds blew in as the sun hung in the sky to provide heat. Feeling the warmth of the wood under his paws, the Hordebeast wandered around. As a colonel, the hare was an officer aboard the ship and had to act like a captain. But he was a hare. Hares were not supposed to lead sea voyages, and Colonel Woxwitty was no exception. He wore his normal attire: regimental green tunic, a steel plating underneath, and a hood over his head. Wrapped around his waist was the belt in which his scimitar hung from, and strapped to his back was the holster for his claymore. But the colonel had a new weapon. Around his boot, hidden underneath a flap of cloth, was a little dirk like knife. It was double-edged, but was shorter and had a comfortable grip for throwing. Rinafera was no talented thrower, but in sticky situations it became quite handy. The hare felt a strong desire for the sea; however, he had no desire to boss around his soldiers. Antious had an attitude problem in their spar, but the rest were fine. The Horde was dwindling in numbers and in talent. Weasel and Mirima were new recruits with a few skills and great potential. Rangarl was a talented fighter but it seemed he had not quite crossed the bridge and was still a regular old vermin. Ty and Flameclaw were great leaders with amazing charisma and talent, but Typhoon was big and therefore took the warrior role with ease. Ashaman was a strange beast and hard to figure out, but was trustworthy and reliable. Ffasma, former second-in-command under Master Thornclaw, was decent enough and was clam under difficult situations. Her experience would benefit the Horde nicely. It was a shame to see Dirk go, but Rinafera would always remember him as Master Thornclaw. The ship flowed down the sea nicely, and the former Guardian realized how nice of a ship it was. He loved ships, but never truly went on a massive voyage, but now was his chance. The Osprey and its attendants were headed up north down the coast, until they left the bay area and sailed out to the great sea. It was going to the Isle of Blades, an isle a few leagues away from Sampetra. Chief Longtooth, a Mossflower criminal and warlord/gang leader, killed a Hordebeast and hung him from a pike near the camp. It was devastating to Rinafera, so the hare made an appoint to hunt down the vicious beast and kill him. Dagfur Longtooth mercilessly killed Mossflower creatures and attempted to assassinate many leaders in the area. Badger Lord Saturn had narrowly avoided a plot to kill him, Abbot Ralph of Redwall was almost killed, and King Wissen of the Grove was killed. The woodland creatures were getting their revenge and ridding themselves of a cruel, vile beast, and Colonel Woxwitty would make sure it was at his paws. Turning, Rinafera took the spot of Tiller beast. Steering the wheel happily, the hare plotted the battle that would take place. It would be a long voyage, but the Horde would prevail and wipe out Longtooth and his army. His brown eyes flickered from place to place, spotting Hordebeast after Hordebeast. The voyage would be difficult but rewarding, as would the battle. Turning his head, Colonel Woxwitty spotted a ship in the distance. From the look of the black flag, it was obviously a corsairs' ship. Rinafera knew the ship needed to speed up. The Horde was on the ocean, and no land was in sight. But they were close, and he knew it was on the horizon. Heck, they were traveling north up the coast. But the colonel would not stop now. He continued to push on up north, and would only stop if a battle took place. "Chaps! We got a bally scum ship on our tail and we need to speed up. Widen the sails and get prepared. We may have a battle on our paws before dusk!" OOC: Finally, a decent RP. ;D

Ty slowly made his way from the hull of the ship to the deck, his steps a little awkward. How he hated being out at sea. It wasn't that he was afraid, its just he could never get his sea legs. In his mind, it was as if he was handicapped in that way. Furthermore, the fact that he had just earned himself freedom AGAIN, and had to sail for a season to get back to the horde, gave him slight frustration.
Frowning, he watched as beasts began to bustle about in a hurry. The colonel rolled his eyes, and didn't even need to ask Rinafera what had caused it.
Ty's midnight blue eyes scrolled the sea until they locked onto the other ship. He shook his head in disbelief. Already, it seemed as if they were going to be thrust into battle sooner than expected. The worst part was, in Ty's mind, that it had to be at sea. The half-rat was about to speak on behalf of his own views on the current situation, but paused to help a younger horde-member struggling with his part of the mast.
He had easily fixed the situation and nodded to the beast. " There yah go mate..." He muttered with a slight smile, hitting the young fox's arm in approval. Ty was an experienced warrior despite his young age, and knew that either way, they were going to have bloodshed with that ship. Whether it was after they hit land and did their duties there, or right now. He strode over to Rina and crossed his arms. " Yew know, some o' these new beasts aren't tha' experienced Rina'. Yew think they're ready for a battle this soon?" He said softly making sure his words were only heard by Rinafera.

Rinafera gazed at the following ship once more. Rolling his brown eyes, he spun the tiller a bit. Though the Osprey was a great ship, it was old. The hare saw the rickety chippings in the mast and smirked. Just my luck; escaping from vermin in an old sloop. He thought as he touched the scimitar in his sheathe for a brief moment. Searching the ship for valuable crew beasts, Colonel Woxwitty saw nothing that impressed him. A few teenagers were on board, and he wished he could snap at them. However, he could not find his friend Ty. Looking over the wheel, Rinafera glared around his surroundings. Suddenly, he spotted Ty helping a younger beast. That was just like Ty to help a weak younger beast. Then, the rat mix approached him.
"Yew know, some o' these new beasts aren't tha' experienced Rina'. Yew think they're ready for a battle this soon?"
The hare nodded in agreement, for he had been pondering the same thing. It seemed the Horde was out of luck, and may lose some soldiers before they even arrived at the Isle of Blades. He bit his tongue in frustration and attempted not to unleash it upon the troops. They were doing a good job so far. Ty had woken him up and Rinafera finally realized how badly in shape they were. He looked back to his comrade, leaning over to whisper.
"The truth is: if we lose some chaps on the way to the isle, we'll be slaughtered. And no, these soldiers are not experienced enough. It is of most flippin' importance to make sure we don't get into a jolly fight with the scum, wot."
The hare wiped nervous sweat from his brow and shrugged. He had no answer for Ty. It remained to be seen. But Rinafera knew one thing; the Horde was in trouble.

Mirima had come on deck to see what was going on. When she saw the other ship she knew it would mean trouble. She was looking for somebeast to speak with when she found Ty. “How bad is it?”

Typh cursed under his breath as he emerged on deck to see what all the commotion was about. He cursed much louder when he saw what caused the commotion. A ship flying a black flag was rapidly closing the distance between them. Though still far away, the Hordebeasts would have only a few hours to prepare for battle, which seemed inevitable. Much as he liked the sea, there was hardly any room for someone his size to maneuver on board a ship, let alone fight. The badger hoped it would not come to that; the Horde ship could not afford to lose any beasts. Knowing that there was nothing he could do on the deck except make a nuisance of himself, the newly-promoted General quickly moved towards the bridge, where he could see the two Colonels in discussion.
OOC: Sorry, short post. I seem to have lost what little skill at RPing that I used to have. I can't really think of anything to say.

Ty paused and listened to every word the fellow colonel said. He gave a nod to confirm that he had taken in every word. As he was about to speak, he picked up what Mirima had said and scratched the back of his neck. He decided he'd lie. It wasn't exactly something bad, since he was lying for the good of the horde. Ty gave a smile and shrugged. " Well, not really bad, we should be able to outsail 'er no problem, and if there is a fight, well, then I think we outnumber them." Ty said cooly as if it was true.
I hate having to lie to Mirima, but right now, I think its for the best... and for the entire horde's sake, I hope this isn't a suicide mission.
OOC: Its fine Typh, and that was a good post, dunno what you're talking about.

*Rangarl heard voices up on deck. He didn't think much of it. He was only a hicthhiker who needed some place to go. So he thougt he was lucky that the crew let him on board. He thought it was just a highly protected merchant ship. Maybe it carried gold or silver or other goods to Lords or maybe just to wealthy people. When he got on board he couldn't see any goods. The fox figured they didn't trust him and were just hiding it from him.
He sat there on a rocking chair for a few minutes thinking. He decided to go up on deck to see what all the bustle was about. He took the trip up to the deck to find troubled faces everywhere. He wondered what was going on. He took a look behind him to see the vermin ship chasing after him. He was puzzled. Why would they be chasing after this ship? They didn't look like pirates.
The fox walked up to Rinafera.* I 'ave some questions I 'ould lik' answered Sir.

Rinafera was puzzled by Ty's expression. He shrugged the feeling off and watched as Mirima approached Ty. The hare smiled and nodded to the squirrel. Turning, he glanced back to the ship. They were getting closer and the morale on the Osprey was getting smaller. Colonel Woxwitty waved to Typhoon and gestured to him, but it was to no avail. Getting up, he took control of the wheel. But a strange fox approached him. The fox was no Horde beast he could remember, but soon realized it was Rangarl.
I 'ave some questions I 'ould lik' answered Sir.
Rangarl spoke in an accent Rinafera had never heard before, but disregarded it. The hare was listening for the said questions but the fox never asked. He smiled friendly like, still worried about the approaching vermin vessel. Colonel Woxwitty spoke with a sharpness and a charisma he did not know he had. "Private Rangarl, if you're flippin' worried about the oncoming ship I will say that I will not let any bally beasts die here. Not here. Not ever." Rinafera nodded after he spoke, and turned to look at the ship in the distance. I hope I can keep my promise...

*The fox thought about what he just said. He wondered if he was to harsh with his words. As he awaited his answer he noticed the vermin ship getting closer. He leaned over the stern. He hoped they could escape they could escape the ship . He looked around him to see that nobody looked too confident.* 'ell com on now answer me.

OOC: OOC: Sorry, short post. I seem to have lost what little skill at RPing that I used to have. I can't really think of anything to say. OOC:It's really short but I just needed to asked the questions. Length does not make a quality post. Short posts can easily be better than long ones. In fact, it can get tiring trying to write long posts all the time. A paragraph or two per post works just fine, if you keep it to the point and say what needs to be said. Just sayin'.

Typh saw Rinafera gesture to him, and took it to mean that he could approach the bridge. He had been hanging around it, but had waited for someone to notice him before he entered the command area. Though he outranked the Colonels, they were the ones who had tactical command on the ship. The badger had always been loath to interfere in the command decisions of others, especially when he had no idea what to do himself. Whatever they had been discussing was probably more important than whatever he had to say, seeing as he had no real command power on board ship. He entered the command area and, seeing as Rinafera was talking to someone else, approached Ty and spoke to him softly so as not to let the others hear.
"Colonel, may I inquire as to the number and type of troops we have on board? It seems to me that a battle with these corsairs, if that is what they are, is inevitable."

"I 'ould lik' to know why that warship is chasin a bloody merchant ship eh. And where are all your goods that your planni' to sell? And why is this vessel so 'eavily armed?"
The hare turned to him quickly, and rolled his eyes. So Rangarl was not a recruit, nor even a soldier fighting for the Horde. The Osprey had soldiers, teenagers, and people who did not even know where the ship was headed. Rinafera cursed under his breath as he saw Typhoon, knowing he must to talk to him but also knowing he had to reply to Rangarl. Colonel Woxwitty looked the fox right in the eyes and told him the truth. The hare colonel told Rangarl exactly what worried him.
"Rangarl, we are flippin' headed for the jolly Isle of Blades to kill a vermin warlord. We are not a merchant ship, wot! If you help us fight against this rabble I will make sure you have food and comfort. We need soldiers. We don't have them. If we get into a scrap with these corsairs were all going to die. Help us and you will have a nice spot at the Horde."
He had never spoken to soldier like that, and he turned to face Typhoon. The badger was a great fighter and would be a great aid, so Rinafera saluted to the general. He stood in a military position, waiting for his general to speak. Only this time, the one the hare knew as Troop Commander did not speak. Regular Typhoon did. The colonel listened and tried to come up with an answer.
"Colonel, may I inquire as to the number and type of troops we have on board? It seems to me that a battle with these corsairs, if that is what they are, is inevitable."
Rinafera looked at Typhoon, but only to count him. Doing a quick head count, for every beast was on board, he came up with an answer. Worried, the hare spoke his answer.
"General Typhoon, we have one score here including me. I wager, for I have seen many corsair ships, that the vermin out number us by maybe even another score. General, it does not look good. We must be prepared for a fight."
The hare saluted again, and took his place behind the wheel. The vermin ship was in sight and very close. He growled in frustration, attempting to get the ship to speed up. It looked as if the Horde was on its last voyage. But Rinafera would make sure they did not die on the Osprey.

Mirima nodded to Typh and walked away. She knew Ty was lying and that bothered her. But after thinking it over she knew he was only trying to comfort her. What he didn’t realize was that she had been on ships before anywhere from slave to first mate. The thing that got her was why were they going so slow since the crew was much smaller and they had less previsions on board to way them down. I just hope the anchor is up.

OOC: Uh...I dunno XD
BIC:
Ty listened to what Rangarl said and rolled his eyes, thinking the same thing Rinafera was thinking. That was one less recruit. None the less, it was another person that'd probably end up having to fight. Ty watched as Mirima walked away. Just as Ty was going to reply to Typh', Rinafera already answered. He smirked.
" Yeah, pretty much what Rina' said, Typh...though, honestly, if we have to fight them, I 'ave an idea. It probably will not work, but it is something if we have to fight them out at sea..." Ty explained casually.
His eyes scanned the seas once more, hoping to spot land, but came up with nothing. He sighed and shook his head miserably. All he could do was hope that land appeared soon, or his plan would have to be used.
OOC: Very bad post, but, hey, it works for now XD

Typh returned Rinafera's salute and sighed. Forty veteran corsairs to twenty Hordebeasts did not sound good at all. Especially when some of the Hordebeasts could hardly fight on land, much less so at sea.
" Yeah, pretty much what Rina' said, Typh...though, honestly, if we have to fight them, I 'ave an idea. It probably will not work, but it is something if we have to fight them out at sea..."
"Well, if you have something, tell us quick, before those dang corsairs get any nearer."
The badger glanced nervously at the enemy ship, which was close enough for the badger's old eyes to see that it was at least twice the size of their ship.

"Well, if you have something, tell us quick, before those dang corsairs get any nearer."
Rinafera turned, seeing the vermin ship. He swallowed a gulp of bitter fear and felt utter fear come over him. The Osprey was too old to be in a shipwreck and and the soldiers for the Horde were too young to fight a battle. The hare looked to Ty, awaiting his plan. But the vermin were getting nearer - the battle had begun. He unsheathed the claymore from the holster strapped to his back and nodded to Typhoon. Colonel Woxwitty, a 40 season old veteran warrior, was about to fight his last fight most likely. He jumped back to the wheel, yelling out orders. The corsair ship, the Blackwaver, was fast and on their tail. Rinafera turned to watch them once more and he shut his eyes. The hare hoped his troops would get out alive, even if he did not.
Right there, Colonel Woxwitty made an oath to himself that he would put others' lives ahead of his own so that they would win the battle. If the hare died, and the Horde won, he would go to the Dark Forest with one last victory. He had lost and won many battles, but very few were at sea. Now, it was time to prove his worth as a colonel. Rinafera turned, seeing the vermin ship right beside the Osprey. He gasped and ran to the stern rail. As the vermin were setting out a large piece of wood as to board the Horde's highly esteemed ship, the hare yanked the claymore into the wood. The board was chopped and fell to the water. But that simply sparked the corsairs' lust for blood. The vermin ship came in closer, and the hare noticed the spikes out of the ship. They crashed, a tad, into the Osprey, and the Horde was shaken. A minor leak was placed in the stern and Colonel Woxwitty panicked - a huge mistake.
"Soldiers! Prepare for a battle! They are going to board any moment! At arms! But do not, I repeat flippin' not, drop the anchor! We will not die today."
Rinafera waited. Every beast waited. His heart pounded deep in his chest, fear biting him deep. He watched as the corsairs struggled to get close enough without crashing their ship. It was a strange sight, but the hare had no time to think of that. He placed the hood over his head, his green tunic swaying in the wind. A scimitar was at his side; however, he decided the claymore was the better choice. At this point, he needed to read far. Then the weasel did it. An arrow pierced through a mouse to Rinafera's left and the little mouse died instantly. A ferret jumped in the air, attempting to get all the way to the Osprey. The hare, in all his anger and rage, hopped as well. The two came upon each other and the hare stabbed the ferret all the way through his chest. Kicking him in the stomach, the corsair fell off the ship and into the sea. Almost losing his balance, Colonel Woxwitty almost joined the ferret.
The battle was on. Vermin boarded the ship, and the battle of 39 to 19 started. Rinafera jabbed at a sea rat, and stuck the blade into his back. Roars and war cries were yelled out, and the hare watched as many of his friends and comrades died in a blur of vermin. It was a deafening roar that escaped his mouth. A great cry rang out and the deep abyss of his emotions was opened. He stabbed the claymore through corsairs left and right without regret or remorse. They deserved everything they would get from the colonel. Blades crashed, and Colonel Woxwitty growled into the face of his foes.
"EULULIAAAAAAA! For the sword and for the Horde!"
He yelled as swords were slung and arrows fired, making a very picture of death and agony. The seasoned fighter was making an appearance, killing vermin. But Rinafera had no badger bloodwrath, nor was he invincible. And that truth was exploited. An arrow ripped into his shoulder and blood streamed out like a river. He gripped it in pain, glaring at the archer stoat who did it. His white fur, barely covered by his short sleeves, turned red in a matter of seconds. The hare took the hood off and spat at the stoat in disgust. He was hurt, but not dead. Getting up, he narrowly dodged an incoming enemy sword. Blocking another blow, Colonel Woxwitty stabbed the rat who attempted to kill him.
"Go to Hellgates, scum!"

"Too late!" Ty cursed in anger, as the battle suddenly began within an instant. His eyes locked on a young squirrel struggling with a spear. Snatching the spear, Ty handed him one of his own duel sabers. " 'ere use that...thank-you." Ty said with a wink. As soon as he turned from the squirrel, he launched the arrow at one of the many corsairs trying to hop over by swinging from rope. The spear hit it dead in the gut, knocking it from the rope in mid-air, and down to the seas.
Afterwards, dagger in left paw, saber in right, Ty began to show why he had once been called 'Fancy Paws' before becoming a slave again. He constantly spinned both blades expertly, manuevering expertly around each oppenent, in a way that'd leave a perfect opening for him to stab a beast so, at the very least it'd mortally wound them. He killed four beasts this way.
One fox that challenged Ty had caused a gash in Ty's arm, but Ty kept fighting. He blocked the cutlass's downslash with his long dagger, then rolled behind the beast, slashing the back of its knees with his saber. Then, before it could react, Ty's dagger was planted in its back.

Mirima turned around to fine the vermin trying to cross over to their little ship. Much had already happened so she went and found a bow and arrows found a good stop and started picking off vermin one by one. She didn’t have very many arrows but did manage to cut through a rope a rat was trying to crossover on and pierced a weasel through the heart.

Typh was in a bad position. In his haste to get up on deck, he had not bothered to pick up a weapon or don any armour, not expecting the enemy to close the distance between their ships that fast. One of his worst fears had been realised. He was about to be caught in a brutal melee without so much as a weapon. Even worse in some ways, he had no armour. The badger had always depended on his armour to protect him, having no agility or speed to speak of which would be negated by the armour. He felt like a tortoise without its shell; still slow, but not protected in the least.
When the battle was joined, he began searching frantically for a weapon before a corsair gutted him like a fish. The badger need not have panicked; a weapon came to him soon enough. A searat, presumably a new corsair recruit from the way he had clumsily leapt from the enemy ship to the Osprey, landed flat on his face on the deck in front of the badger. Typh had always believed that only honourable opponents deserved honourable fights. As such, he saw his chance and took it. Bringing a heavy booted footpaw with all the force he could muster down on the rat's unprotected head, the badger heard the hapless corsair begin to scream before he was cut short by the snapping sound of his neck breaking and thus silenced forever. Ruthless, maybe, but while in battle, one didn't consider such things. Not that the rat deserved any consideration in any case. Bending down to relieve the carcass of its cutlass, Typh paused momentarily to spit on his enemy's corpse. It was at least half a length too short for the badger, but at least he was armed now.
As he stood up, he was immediately rushed by a trio of ferrets armed with scimitars. At that moment, it did not strike Typh as strange that there should be such uniformity in a corsair unit, seeing as he was fighting for his life. Through a combination of sheer luck, and a longer reach, he managed to run the first ferret though with his cutlass before he even got within striking range of the badger. However, he had less luck with the other two, though he managed to pull his cutlass out of the dying body and parry one blade, he missed the other completely, and it chopped viciously into his left thigh muscle, miraculously missing the artery and bone. Screaming the most obscene, vulgar, and crude words he knew in his own tongue, and with a slight red mist descending over his eyes for the first time in seasons, Typh swung the razor-sharp cutlass in a hundred and eighty degree arc in front of him, unbelievably and immediately decapitating both ferrets.
Grinning maniacally, the badger paused to pick up a scimitar before charging at a cluster of corsairs, the Bloodwrath within him driving him on. He had no choice but to embrace it, for the sake of his survival. The red mist intensified, until everything was a shade of red. Just two seasons ago, Typh would never have done such a thing. He had changed during his absence, though whether it was a good change would remain to be seen.

OOC: we have already killed about 20. Cool!
Mirima dropped from her position catching a rope for a soft landing on deck. She made her way to the stern in attempts to see who was injured. As she moved a rat confronted her but the only thing she had was an arrow. The rat held his knife blade down his left paw in a fist. He attempted to show off a little before he made his move. He lunged and hit Mirima. But she had been watching and caught his right paw throwing a punch with her right paw into his diaphragm knocking the wind out of him. She then used the arrow to cut his thought, she tool the knife and moved to the next creature.
