Rue's eyes narrowed to half-slits in contentment, and she smiled to herself. She hadn't missed the look on the weasel's face- well, one could play that game, she supposed. She was in no hurry.
Feigning indifference, she turned to the two mice. "Snowflower, is it? It's a pleasure to meet you, marm. And how did such a lovely young mousemaid end up in the infamous Horde?"

Snowflower smiled the most charming smile she could think up - one that nearly made her laugh at herself for being an actress. Weasels had a sense of gallantry as well, as Fin clearly demonstrated. But she had known that already.
The mousemaid bowed her head politely in greeting towards Rue - she'd shake her paw, but it was occupied already with Finbar. "Oh, I was on a ship to Southsward, business matters and all that. Well, the ship took a big beating in a storm, and nearly wrecked. It sank as soon as we got to this harbor. I guess I'm stuck here, because the next ship doesn't leave for a while."

Fin shook his head slightly when she told of how she had gotten stranded. "Pity, that."
"Well, you kin stay as long as you like, o' course. We don't bite." The weasel grinned toothily. He gave Rue and Korren a sidelong glance, a smile in his eyes.
"Well, most of us don't anyway. You'd do well to watch yerself around Typhoon an' Flameclaw, the commanding officers around here." He laughed.

And you watch yourself around me, weasel, Rue thought darkly.
Aloud, she said to Snowflower, "Does that mean you're not not staying here, then?"

Korren noticed the sidelong glance that Fin gave to Rue and him, and the dangerous smile that the badger had on her face. Oh dear, what did I do now? Sure, Chicory Rue and Finbar Bellamy might not be on the best of terms, but it doesn't mean I can't be friendly with both of them. Does it?
Korren kept a mild look on his face; he didn't want them to think he was panicking, especially if it turned out that he had noticed nothing. I'd better get Snowflower, and myself, out of here before a fight starts. Turning to the mousemaid, Korren put a congenial smile on his face.
"So, Snowflower, would you have any interest in seeing the sights on our lovely island while you're here? If so, I have time right now to give you a bit of a tour," he said casually, with a glance at the sun's position in the sky.

Snowflower ignored the looks that passed between Fin and Rue, not wanting to fan any flames by letting them know she'd notice.
She replied to Rue's and Korren's questions in one answer. "No, I can't stay. I have many duties to fulfill in Mossflower. But, I would like to see a little bit of this place while I'm here."

Rue leaned back a little, smiling at the mousemaid. "Perhaps that is best...after all, you are young, and have a whole life ahead of you still..."
Suddenly, she straightened. "If you would like to see a bit of this place, then I'd be happy to show you around. Korren can help, too." She threw a look at Korren.

Korren returned the look with an expression of injured innocence. He wasn't planning anything that involved taking her to the Barracks. ((just to let you know. I don't consider that to be true romance. If that's what Rue's look was about. If it wasn't, my apologies.))
"Yeah, we'll show you the town, and maybe the beach, and maybe the mess hall. But you wouldn't want to see the Barracks; bit of a mess most times."

OOC: Heavens, no. The look was meant to be as though I expected you to come along. I didn't want to give her a tour by myself, you know.
Rue nods. "Yes, yes. The beach sounds nice, and a tour of the town would be nice as well. Good gracious, Korren, of course we're not going to the Barracks!" Her voice subsided to a low mutter. "Wouldn't do to have the young miss faint at the sight of all the, well, gauche of our soldiers, heavens, no..."

OOC: Oh, well, sorry, then. Don't get me wrong, I get things mixed up sometimes.

OOC: That's perfectly alright, it's not like it really matters anyway. Anyhoo, let's continue on with the thread, shall we?

Fin watched the expressions exchanged between Rue and Korren with a certain amount of amusement. He was quiet as he listened, then spoke up in response to Rue's comment.
"Ah, I'm sure Miss Snowflower kin choose where she'd like to go herself. Who're we to say she can't go to the Barracks? I've just been around there, an' it's not too bad right around now."
He looked to Snowflower, smiling once more. "After all, if things don't work out in Mossflower one day, you kin always pop over here and sign up. Might as well check out the barracks while you're around t' see what conditions're like."
He tilted his head, shrugging. "That is, if you want to."

Rue shot a wary look at Finbar. Then, she shrugged. "It's really your choice, miss. Though I'd definitely recommend seeing the town at least once, before you go."

Snowflower nodded. "Oh, yes, I would like to see the town. I've never really been to full-blood town before. Perhaps a fortress, but never a town."
