*The sun was barely risen as Dirk strolled leisurely into the courtyard, gazing over the now-empty ground with a feeling of sadness. The change had, unfortunately, inhibited sparring, as well as other activities, up until now. He could see no one else present, no one to provide a challenge for the warrior mouse. But they would come. Dirk walked over to the weapons storage shed, grabbed a few quarterstaffs from a corner, then stepped back outside. He took one and swung it around experimentally. Shaking his head, he dropped it to the ground and picked up another. This one he placed off to one side, liking its feel. He tried the rest, but eventually came back to the second one he had picked up. He replaced the others in the shed, then walked around, swinging his weapon a bit, warming up for a potential fight with whoever entered the courtyard next. Hopefully someone came soon.* OOC: It's been awhile since I RPed Dirk in a fight. Anyone up for a hopefully not-to-easy challenge?

((OOC: So it's kinda to get back in your groove, eh? Now, how could our dear commander ever forget how to spar? Just kiddin'.)) **Rinnii entered the Sparring Court cautiously. She looked for an oppenent from under a tree near the entrance. The only one she could see was Dirk. Maybe not the best opponent for her first spar, but he seemed to be the only. The ferret maid made her way over to the commander. ** "Waitin' fer somebeast special, or are ye open ta anybeast?"

OOC: Oh, I can still spar the pants off of anyone, never fear IC: *Dirk had spotted Rinnii enter, hesitate, then approach. He knew her little, only having seen her at brief intervals since his return to The Horde. He had little idea sort of fighter she was, what her weapon was, or how skilled she was wielding it. Well, I'll find out soon enough, I suppose."Waitin' fer somebeast special, or are ye open ta anybeast?"*Dirk grinned and winked* "Ah'm open to one and all, s'long as they won't go cryin' to their momma's when I beat them." *He settled into a casual stance, appearing calm, but with his staff but a swing away, ready to block an attack.*

"Ah'm open to one and all, s'long as they won't go cryin' to their momma's when I beat them."
Rinnii gave a weak smile. 'Ain't no way that's gonna 'appen,' she thinks. 'Not much a'mum ta run ta.'
**She drew her scimitar and un-hooked her pan/shield. The ferret maid held her pan a bit in front of her, the blade of her scimtar pokeing out to the left of it.
With her back hunched a bit, Rinnii took a sidestep forward, shuffling her foot paws. With a raise of any eyebrown, she motioned him forward with a quiver of her trusty pan.**

*Dirk wore a small smile on his face now, in anticipation of a good fight. Rinnii acted confident in her ability, her stance indicating taht this would be no easy after-dinner scrap. Good.
Dirk tensed his legs in a semi-crouching stance, his staff raised and poised, ready to swing. The mouse took moment to size up his opponent, his trained eyes taking in all they could, his equally trained brain calculating and formulating. Being a ferret, Rinnii was larger than Dirk, probably stronger, and just as quick. Scimitars were fast weapons, too, and strong. But Dirk always knew that, in the end, staffs were quicker, just as sturdy, and had two ends to attack with. Rinnii would have to have stamina to keep up with Dirk's relentless attacks.
Deciding to keep it easy at first - no point over-exerting oneself so early in a potentially hard fight - Dirk answered the ferrets beckon with a quick feint to the right and an answering stroke to the left, the swing aimed at Rinnii's right thigh. He expected the attack to be countered easily enough, but just how the ferret countered could tell much about her style of fighting.*

((OOC: Uh, how big is your staff? Something Rinnii could snap in half, or just notch?))
**Rinnii swung her blade to meet the quarterstaff, effectively stopping it from slicing open her thigh. With the curve of the scimitar under the staff, she heaved upward.
Without waiting to see if Dirk stopped the staff from swinging up, Rinnii jabbed at the momentarily exposed bit of forearm.**

Shadow walked in and spotted the two sparing and called out"Hey Dirk and Rinnii are you up for a three way spar?"
