OOC: Alright, let's try this again. Hopefully with someone that will actually remain active. BIC: An enormous female badger stomps into the room, leaning on a colossal 'walking stick' and looking hopefully about her for somebody to fight.

OOC: I'd fight ya, but small mouse vs enormous badger doesn't work too well If no one else shows, though, I'll try my paw at it.

OOC: Oh, let's just go for it- I'll make it easy by handicapping (pawdicapping?) myself or something. You can decide how. Besides, Ffasma and Ranjit are already in a duel of their own.

OOC: Pawdicap. Interesting. Nah, no pawdicaps. I'll just go for it, and hope Dirk's vast experience as a mercenary-warrior type figure helps him survive IC: The mouse had not planned on sparring, but watching Rue stand there all alone, obviously itching for a fight, he began considering if his bones could handle it. He wasn't that old, but Dirk had not sparred in ages. He was fit, just out of practice. Despite these doubts, Dirk headed over to the weapons storage shed. Weapons of all sorts were contained here, collected over the years by leaders and arms-masters to provide a sufficient resource for The Horde's many and varied warriors. Dirk was proficient in several types of weaponry, not least the blade - in his mercenary days he fought chiefly with the scimitar or sabre. In latter years, the mouse had picked up the quarterstaff. A natural warrior, born and raised, Dirk had the agility and speed to adapt to the use of almost any blade or weapon. Of course, in the past two years he had laid down the sword for the stole and pen. A leader now, he left fighting to the fighters. Reminiscing of bygone battles, Dirk's eye finally caught on a pair of twin short swords. One-edged, slightly curved, they may have looked like long daggers to one of Rue's size, but to the mouse they were like two, one-handed swords, slightly smaller than most regular swords but just as deadly, if not doubly so. Yes, these would do. Returning to the sparring court, Dirk sought out Rue and approached her. He realised just how big she was then. Or maybe just how small he actually was. Trying to feel jovial, he hailed her. "Ahoy there. Lookin' fer a sparring partner? If ye were planning on tryin' that hulking stick ye have clutched there, I'm 'fraid ye might be disappointed - sticks don't usually fight back much. But go 'head and try, I'll jus' wait my turn."

OOC: Actually, if you think about it, it'd be the other way around- I mean, this gigantic, lumbering brute lugging around half an uprooted oak tree versus a smaller, lighter, faster fighter that actually knows what he's doing? BIC: Rue looks ruefully down at her battered old stick, which had twigs and branches growing out of it. "Aye, I see your point..." Following suit, she walked over to the shed where the weapons were kept, passing the blades as Dirk had done (she wouldn't have known what to do with one anyway). Finally, she chose a short, heavy cudgel, about the length of a baseball bat but three times as thick. She inspects it closely. "Hm, I think this will do nicely..." Walking back to where Dirk stood, swinging the cudgel nonchalantly in her paw, Rue grinned rather ruefully- Dirk might have been small, but his reputation preceded him. Holding the club loosely in her right paw, Rue shifted so that the sun wasn't in her eyes. She nodded. "Go on, tis' only right that the horde master have the first blow..."

OOC: So it'll basically come down to, can I hit you in the shins enough times before you land one blow on me? Ok, so I was just starting to write a post when I slowly remembered why I stopped using quarterstaffs as my main weapon for my characters - it doesn't work in RP fights. If you think about it, staffs are supposed to rain down several blows in quick succession, but that doesn't work in RP fights, which are generally much slower especially if your opponent is not using a staff as well. Unless you want lots of auto-hitting, of course. So uh, I'm going to go edit my post and change my weapon, if that's alright with you. I'll make a new RP post with it later.

OOC: Blah. My online time has been taken up by other things. I may get back around to this eventually. I was kind of looking forward to it too.

OOC: Oh, that's all right. I haven't been getting on as much either, what with Driver's Ed and all. It's ok, just take your time.
