OOC: This is a joint post between Kip and Takus. I have permission to RP as Kip and all of her NPCs, since we're actualy the same person in real life.
BIC: The Weasel lifted his torch to get a better look at the ship. She was well made with a stout Oak hull, and it was obvious that somebeast on board gave her allot of care and devotion. It seemed to him that it would almost be a crime to burn such a fine piece of work. At least without looting it first, anyway. He lifted the torch several inches from the hull, pulled it back again, and sighed. "Mam," he said, turning around at the waist to face Kip, "wouldn't it be a good idea to pull what we can from the ships before burning them? We might find summut of use up there, ya know?" He quietly waited for her answer, tapping an inpatient footpaw quietly on the dock.
It was a good question, and Kip didn't rightly know the answer. They didn't really have time to do a full plundering of the ships, but the gatehouse was running low on several healing herbs, allong with arrows and other ranged weapons. Maybe they COULD find something on board. She shruged. "Alright boys, we'll board. We'll split into five groups of five. Group one will be lead by myself, group two by Jorris, three by Smallins, four by Harris, and five by Lanen." She quicly assigned beasts to each group, making sure each group was equaly ballanced in tallent and size. Once she was done with that, she started dishing out orders. "Group one is to look for any kind of medical bay aboard. Once there, we raid all the medical supplies we can. Group two will raid the food lockers, no indulging on their supplies. We're taking them back to the Fort. Group three will raid shipboard supplies, and group four will stay on the deck as lookouts incase we get spotted. Group five... Group five is to stay on the dock and act as a first defense against anybeast who decides to show up from either another ship, or the land. We'll meet back here in exactly ten minutes. If you run into an awake beast who isn't with us, kill him. And make sure you don't allert the rest of the crew when you do as such. I want this to be a clean and tidy operation if at all possible. Now lets move out."
Takus watched the beasts down on the dock form some kind of huddle, and then start heading out in groups of five or so up the gangplank and onto the deck. "Sneaking twerps wanna burn me allive? I'll make 'em think twice before they ever try anything like that on me or mine again..." He waited in the rigging, hoping and praying with everything he had that nobeast would look up and spot him. His plan would be useless if they spotted him. Or killed him... The beasts slowly and quietly dissapered below decks, leaving about five or so on the deck, and another five on the docks. "Ten beasts in all..." He thought dully, grinding his teeth. "Too much for me to take down allone. But I might as well give getting to the warning bell a shot. At the very least, it'll allert everybeast else round here to their presence. He shook his head and gathered up his courage, waiting until one of the enemy soldiers was directly under him. The one under him looked like some kind of Ferret. Small and wiry, not much size to him. Probably a theif by trade, making his living off of other beasts good forture. Takus grimaced. If there was one thing he hated more than beasts who tried to kill him for no apperent reason, it was theives. And whoever this Ferret was seemed to be both of those things. Takus smiled, took his sword in his paw, tensed his muscles, aimed, and jumped with the scream of a banshee.
Two sickening cracks and a pained scream. The Ferret that Takus had landed on was twisted around on the deck, his neck bent in an odd way where Tacks had hit it, and his eyes glazed over; staring vacantly into the stars above as his soul was greeted into its new otherworldly home. Tacks lay next to him, whimpering and clutching a bloody spot on his right leg where a small chunk of bone had protruded when he slammed into the deck. It was amazing that the Marmot was still allive. It was said that Cats had nine lives. It seemed Marmots had fifty. "No time for pain, he thought, holding back his tears as the blood seeped out of his leg and onto the deck, "Must warn the crew... Must save the ship..." Takus had been on shipboard long enough to know that the ship's bell was only a few feet from the mast. He pushed himself up onto him paws, and looked around himself. The rest of the beasts were still in shock, looking around for whatever had made that cursed noise. He shook his head and tried to forget the pain. Clearing his mind, he pressed his good footpaw against the deck and started to scoot backwards towards the warning bell.

"Who's making that infernal racket?" Kip growled. Whoever it was, was obviously trying to wake the crew. "ALRIGHT!" She yelled out loud enough for everybeast on the ship to hear her, "ALL PAWS ON DECK! ALL PAWS ON DECK! Revert to plan B!" Plan B meant scrapping all plans to steal goods from the ship, falling back to the docks, and burning everything in sight. Only this time, it might have to be a little bloodier than at first anticipated. Bloodier for the Hoard if their luck held out, but if luck fell through on her side of the bargain, it might just be bloody for everybeast there. And that would be what Kip considered a bad thing. As she made it to the deck, she came to the quick realisation that there was no longer a single beast below deck. The ship was swarming with beasts from both sides, clashing sabres all over the place. "All paws retreat, fall back to the docks!" She yelled over the mayhem, tripping a mouse with her spear as she ran, "Lanen! Light'er up!" She yelled over to the beasts on the dock. "Charming party..." she muttered, hearding her troops onto the dock as Lanen and her beasts lit the torches and prepared to burn the Osprey.
Kip was glad to feel the dock under her feet. It meant she was safe. Well, safer anyway. She had pulled down the gangplank behind her so the Hoard beasts couldn't follow, but several of them were still trying to poke at them, rather unsucessfully, with longspears. "Torches lit?" she asked Lanen in a slow and steady drawl. Lanen nodded, staring straight ahead as the Osprey's crew got it ready to set sail. "Good," Kip smiled widley, "I think it's time to show these ingreats what a loaf of bread feels like when it's being cooked, eh? Light 'er up." Lanen nodded again, and clicked her claws together. At this signal, five torches flew from the docks and towards the Osprey. The first torch clattered against the side of the ship and fell harmlessly into the depths below, but the next four sailed gracefully over the railing and onto the deck. There was a moments pause, and then a squeel. "FIRE ON THE DECK! FIRE ON THE DECK!" Kip started to smile, but stoped, and instead said "EVERYBEAST, DOWN!" She dove to her left, tackling Lanen into the deck as a torch flew overhead. Seems one of them had been caught and repeled. The other three were starting to burn nicely though. The fourth torch clattered to a stop in a heap of oil filled rags. This provided the neccesary fuel to light the entire end of the dock. "Retreat back to shore with all possible haste! Our work here is done. Let's go." They fell back, several of them dropping to their knees and kissing the ground when they left the dock. Kip let them do this before saying, "Unit, atten-shun!" And waiting a minute for them to scramble back into position. "Situation report! Who'd we lose?" There was a moment of silence while the various officers looked around them to double check who had fallen in the fray. After a minute, Lanen stepped forward and saluted.
"We lost three soldiers, sir. Casey Minnen, Leo Cobb, and Zoe Brown."
Kip nodded solemnly and said, "Company, about face!" There was a slight confusion as they turned around, not quite sure why they were doing this. "Company, Uh-ten-shun! Company, Salute! Hail the fallen warriors of Tatterack, may their great deeds live forever in poem and song." She let a moment of silence fill the air, or it would of been silent if there wasn't the vauge sound of battle in the distance, and then ordered them to an "at-ease" positon. The worst part of battle was the death. There were always good beasts on both sides, it was a given that there was at least one good beast in any sizable army. But a sword doesn't discriminate from good and evil. A sword cares not who or what it kills. A sword's only care is that the bloodshed continues. For a sword, like many vermin, fed not on bread and wine, upon war and death. After a moment, she shook her head and ordered them to move into the woods. Maybe they could find a shortcut into town and take the Hoard's gathering defences by suprise.
Takus felt himself slipping into uncontiousness. There had been an attack on the ship, but it seemed his actions had managed to save them from a death by flame. There had been several torches launched onto the deck, but it seemed that the crew had put them out some way or another. His mind was too cloudy to correctly tell how they did it. All he knew is that there was the face of a kindly old beast hovering above him. "Don't worry, MR. Telkin." Said the beast, picking Tacks up and starting to carry him. "You've shattered your leg. We're going to set it right again though. You'll be up and fighting again in no time." Takus didn't understand the beast. He couldn't hear him, he could only see his lips move. He looked up to the moon, closed his eyes, and slipped into uncontiousness.
