A cool, and soothing breeze brushed against Desko as he twirled his blade expertly. The waves crashed along the beach, just climbing up the hot sands far enough to brush his feet. The oddly edged blade was a light weapon, but could tire out a beast after hours of twirling it on the beach. He had started at sunrise and it was now approaching sunset, but of course he did other things than twirl the blade. He had also swung it around, did pushups, and many other exercises. Finally, he stopped twirling the blade and sat down. He was exhausted, and decided he'd take a quick break, to watch the sunset.

The sand flicked up behind him and his paws felt leaden as Flame ran on, trying to defeat his last major barrier to physical perfection, a lack of endurance. The sun had been low and his fur dry and silky soft when he had started. Now his fur was either damp with sweat or crusting with salt from the few times he'd ran into the sea and swam a few strokes to cool off. Now the sun was on the other side of his face and the pebble he was sucking had long since ceased to be effective. The pull of the sea was too great and Flame ran into it again, stumbling with exaustion as he dived in and started swimming powerfully, his broad and heavily clawed forepaws sweeping him forewards quickly. The water rippled over his muscular body, washing away the heat and sweat and salt crust. It was an unusual sight to see a wildcat swimming, but Flame loved it, maybe because of the otters that had taken him in and given him the time to develop from an agile young cat to the powerful best that he was when he faced off with his father, and won. Not much remained of his early childhood except maybe his lack of hesitation to attack almost anybeast that threatened his friends. Some of the newer additions were his desire to protect any female who needed it, and sometimes when they didn't, maybe also his more trustful tendencies toward hares, mice and especially otters. Flame's fur had a fair bit of drag, but that didn't affect anything as he bodysurfed back to the shore, leaning back and regaining his footpaws, splashing as he ran out of the ocean. He gave a small start as he saw the other beast sitting on the beach. "Hi," he paused to shake himself, "Who are you, have seen you around before?" Flame flopped down in the shallow water about a pace from Desko's footpaws.

Desko looked down from the sunset and at the speaker. He smirked. A swimming cat, what a sight. He stood silent for a moment or two, as if he wouldn't answer the question, but then replied, " What my name is, tain't important, 'n who I am, double so, but if you must know, I'm Desko StrangeBlade. Mah nickame is Toothpick, but I have many others, so call me what you will." He then remained silent, waiting for the wildcat's reply, a lost stern look on the young ferret's face. Though, his silence was broken by him spitting to the side quickly.

"I'm Flameclaw, I haven't been here as long as Typhoon or some of the other old-timers, but I'm deffinitely not new here. Some beasts call me by my full name but I generally go by the name Flame." He could feel the tiredness start to seap out of his muscles and ebb away with the tide, rejuvinating him again, not that it'd take much at all to exaust him again. This Desko, Toothpick, whatever, seemed rather uptight, well, he probably would only be up to Flame's shoulder, and even if he was as agile as him he'd hardly be a match for a wildcat in strength. "That's a strange weapon you carry; may I have a closer look?" he asked eying off the ferret.

Desko, stood up, strode over, and handed the blade to him. He was slow handing it over, but he did. " When I was young, a pirate raid 'appenned 'n they took me in, training me to be one o' them. I've learnt to use that very blade since I was three seasons." He explained, in a passionate way towards his blade. He then watched the wildcat's actions carefully. The ferret was indeed, despite his tallness only up to his shoulders. The ferret's golden fur shined brightly from the sun.

"Interesting." Flame said as he handled the sword, feeling the balance and weight and he tested the blade on a hair. "Very good, and I can see how a young beast could use a blade like this and yet it wouldn't have lost it's usefulness as you have gotten stronger." He handed the blade back and explained "I left my steel weapons at home, but as you would know, no cat is unarmed until he looses his paws and teeth." Flame got up and asked as he turned to leave, "Are you going back now?"

Desko nodded in agreement. " Aye, yew cats are pretty fierce beasts, 'n great fighters too." He replied. Onc ehe was handed back his blade, he immediately sheathed it, and scratched his head at Flame's next question. " Not too sure really, I'm probably jus' gonna sit out 'ere for a few minutes. I've never really found mah place in the ........well place yet, so I'm jus' as good sittin' 'ere....so no I'm not goin' back right now."

"Ok, I'll be in the tavern later, I've heard a rumor that needs to be investigated." Flame headed at a brisk walk towards the town, headed toward the barracks and his room where he left his weapons.
