The fieldmouse walked boldly into the barracks for Legion 2. He looked around for a bench, then casually sat down and began sharpening his sword. His charismatic green eyes scanned the room, looking for anything interesting going on.

Fin was slumped in a wooden chair, resting his footpaws on the foot of a cot. He spat in the corner of the room, and proceeded to rest his hands on his stomach and twiddle his thumbs. Another long stretch of idleness. There was really nothing to do. He'd already gone outside to play around with his cutlass. Training, sort of. Of course, it depended on what you meant by training. Fin disliked having to practice things. He was okay with some work, provided he got paid. Or if he had no choice, either work or be killed. But being in an army was something he'd never done before, and he wasn't quite sure he liked it.
The weasel saw a figure in the doorway of the barracks. It was a red-furred mouse a bearing a sword, somebeast he'd never seen before. Probably one of those noble warrior-types. He might lop my head off if I make the wrong move, Finbar thought half jokingly, though he was a bit wary. Noble-looking, strong warrior mice carrying swords weren't worth bothering if you valued your life. Granted, the mouse was still quite young. But that didn't mean he wouldn't know how to use the sword he was sharpening, and it just didn't seem sensible to take the risk.
Fin watched the newcomer carefully, but didn't say anything. Finally he spoke, his voice a languid drawl. Gates, he must have been more tired than he thought.
"Hey, mouse. Welcome to the wotsit, er, legion. Name's Finbar."
He didn't bother to get up to shake hands, but offered a nod to the fieldmouse.

"Howdy," said the mouse, "m'name's Korren."
He tried not to sound nervous. He'd never met a weasel before. Might try to stick me if I seem too stand-offish, he thought.
Korren walked over, trying to look fearless as he extended a paw to shake hands with the weasel.
"I just joined up; looks like you types get a lot of action. I've done a lot of bushwacking in my day, but only with real bushes. Thought I could get a little experience here."

Finbar immediately sensed the mouse's nervousness, and relaxed, almost relieved. He straightened up and accepted the mouse's paw, shaking it lightly.
"Nice to meet you, Korren," he said, a mischevious sort of glint glowing in his eyes. He listened to the mouse's next words, his confidence increasing with every second. So this Korren fellow really was green, new to the whole soldier-thing. Finbar was probably just as green, and yellow to boot, but the weasel wasn't about to admit that anytime soon.
"Yeah, you get used to it in time. As fer action, I think you'd 'ave better luck aboard a pirate ship or whatnot..." Fin cleaned his claws meticulously as he said this, acting as nonchalant as possible. Maybe if he played his cards right...but, no, one should never think ahead too much.

Korren watched the weasel carefully; the last thing he wanted was somebeast taking advantage of a poor new recruit who was just trying to make a joke. Especially if he was the new recruit. The fellow seemed friendly, though.
"Well, a pirate ship ain't exactly my style. Plus, they probably wouldn't have accepted me; corsair rats tend to stick with their own kind, and, well, I can't really pass meself off as a rat, now can I?

Fin's eyes flashed up at Korren for a brief second before traveling down to his claws again.
"No, you can't," he replied simply.
He paused, then dropped his paws and spread one out to the side, gesturing at the expanse of the barracks. The weasel grinned at Korren in a friendly manner.
"Like me to show you around?" he asked, as if he really knew his way around. He didn't, really. Not past knowing where the beds where and all.

"Aye, although all I need to know is where to bunk down fer the night; I'm exhausted." The mouse made his point clear with a wide, ear-splitting yawn.

"You can lie down on any o' those cots, if yew like."
The weasel wasn't exactly sure which bed belonged to who, but it didn't really matter, did it? He knew which one was his...he fell asleep on it every night, and no one else laid down on it except him, or at least not while he was watching.
Fin finished checking his claws and sat down on his cot, just to sort of mark out the territory.

"I guess so."
The fieldmouse looked around at the bunks, carefully noting each one that had equipment around it. Finding one that seemed to be unoccupied, he lade his sword and sheath next to it, and made himself at home.

((My apologies for not replying to this in so long. I kinda forgot. :S))
Finbar smoothed the fur on his head absently, his eyes sort of glazed over and fixed on the doorway, as if he was waiting for somebeast, which he wasn't. The weasel then turned to watch Korren, but didn't speak. Finally, he asked, "How old are you, mate?"

OOC: Eh, it's all right. It's happened before. And sometimes I, too, am the guilty party. Surprising, eh?
BIC: Korren looked up. He had been planning on taking a nap, but suddenly found he wasn't all that tired.
"Fifteen. Why?"
