OOC: Supa smilies. ;D
Name: Quickbow Lankleg Steelpaw Longears
Species: Hare
Gender: Male
Weapon/s:
Dibbun Weapon:
1. A small, recreational bow, used mainly for fun and competitions.
2. A wooden sword, which Quickbow uses in his make-believe combat.
3. A wooden shield, used to “parry” poles and candlesticks.
Adult Weapon/s:
1. A stout longbow, well crafted with excellent range. Unfortunately, Quickbow is a bad shot.
2. A light, well-kept rapier, longer and thinner then a sword. Quickbow is able to swing it faster than a traditional sword, with much more dexterity.
3. A small, sharp dagger, expertly hidden in his belt.
Personality: Yes, it’s long….
Strengths:
Dibbun:
Quickbow is a contender in the walltop race almost every season, due to his natural hare quickness, and his drive to be better then all. He is a good eye with a stone, and as been seen sipping a stone five times over the water, not the best of any dibbun, but by all means respectable.
Teen:
Quickbow has a great imagination, as he even thinks of names for all his fake opponents that he play-fights. Quickbow is beginning to show his talent of swordplay, and is eager to show it off to anyone willing to watch. Quickbow is alert, a quick learner, and growing wiser with every Abbey School class.
Adult:
Quickbow is a fast runner, as most hares go. He is by no means very fast among his species, but he can out-run slower species, like moles and hedgehogs. He can shoot a bow with great speed [as his name implies] and is an above-average sword-beast. Quickbow excels in stealth, using his soft-footpaws to mask his movement from all but the most alert beast.
Weaknesses:
Dibbun:
Quickbow often starts fighting an imaginary enemy, creating a big mess and looking like an idiot in the process. Quickbow is deathly afraid of water, and hates the thought of even being in a boat.
Teen:
Quickbow is restless, sometimes snappy with other beasts, and hates being criticized. As an escape to his troubles, he often continues his fake fights, and worries many elders, them thinking he is a few stones short of a sling-pouch. Although he is a young, healthy hare, his behavior is troubling to some.
Adult:
Quickbow can sometimes be uncomfortable with company, for by that time, he has already spent quite a few seasons alone on the road. He still has a huge appetite, which scares away a lot of offers for food. Quickbow might be a fast shot with a bow, but he has horrible aim, which sometimes hampers him in a stand-off type of battle, sometimes proving him useless until the time for paw-to-paw combat.
Habits:
Dibbun:
Quickbow has a habit to spontaneously go into a mock-battle, and often spends many hours hiding from baths in the Cellar. Another one of his habits is taking “samples” from the wine and cordial barrels, without permission from the Cellarhog, of course.
Teen:
Quickbow has a tendency to read over the history manuscripts, ancient and recent, to fuel his desperate thirst for knowledge. Quickbow still loves competitions, and tries to practice with his small bow as much as possible, much to the disdain of the Abbey-beasts.
Adult:
As a journeyman of the lonely road, Quickbow sometimes has a weird habit to talk to himself, the scenery, and even the stars at night. He often stops to write in his weathered journal, sometimes stopping for the hours to express his feelings on the page.
Pictures to Describe Quickbow: I went over-board, heh.

Dibbun:
Quickbow starts as a rather quiet dibbun, uncaring about baths, but the elder’s joy was ruined by Quickbow meeting the other dibbuns early, and learning the extreme evil of them all. Quickbow grows to be fun-loving dibbun, his favorite time of year being the feasts, for the food, and the competitions like the Wall Race, the Arrow-shooting competitions, and of course, the incredible food. He avoids bathes, steals food, but treasures his sleep, unusual for most dibbuns.
Teen:
Quickbow is a restless young hare, eager for excitement, and yearning for knowledge. He wants to know as much as he can which is why he pays extra attention in the history lessons at the Abbey School, and is always pestering the elders for stories. He is growing slightly tired of the peaceful life of an Abbey-dweller, and is always the top volunteer to go with the Abbess on a picnic, gather herbs for the Infirmary Sister, or do anything that lets him leave the Abbey, even if it is only for a while. He also feels the natural instinct of a warrior come over him, and loves to spar, participate in tournaments, and fiercely pace on the Abbey Walls, much to the amusement of the otter guards.
Adult:
Quickbow is a wanderer, a lone leaf, blown the winds of time, down the road of destiny. He is a thoughtful hare, slightly quieter then before. He is alert to details, fueled by his desire to learn, and hates to see other bests imprisoned or treated wrong. He writes of his travels in a journal, so that when he dies, he may pass it down to someone else, and tell them of his life, the life of a traveler. He admires the natural beauty, and is less likely to scarf all his food down at once, for he knows that you never know where your next meal will be while traveling alone, with no destination.
Appearance:
Dibbun:
As a dibbun, Quickbow is clothed in a traditional novice’s habit, which is usually coated in mud, strawberry juice, food, or snow in the winter. He doesn’t wear sandals, preferring the soft touch of the grass on his paws. He is a slightly chubby young hare, with short, stubby legs, and floppy ears.
Teen:
Quickbow has grown a bit taller by his teen seasons, and wears an earth-colored tunic, which is covered with “medals” of bark, made by him to look like a military hare. He carries a light wooden sword, gave to him by the Skipper of Otters, and this is his most treasured possession. He is often covered in grass and mud stains, due to his “spying” through the Abbey lawn, searching for secret hideouts or enemy soldiers.
Adult:
Quickbow has become a tall and lanky hare, his body slightly thinned out from his long miles on the road. He has started wearing light sandals on his footpaws, preventing the many cuts and calluses that come with the long walks of the open road. He carries a light rapier on his belt, a knapsack at his back, and his journal, quill, and pen, which he writes in often. His fur is sandy-brown, slightly tanned by the long hours in the son. He walks with a smile on his face and a spring in his step, his eyes always open and alert to new happenings.
Father's Side:
Quickbow’s father, John Longears, was a wanderer also, a fighter to those needing help, and a comforter to the weak. Though Quickbow didn’t know much of his father, the small bit he had were all good things, of the hare’s abilities and kindness.
Mother's side: His mothers was Stephney Bobtail Longears, who was once a fighter of the Long Patrol, but after one of her fingers were severed in a battle by a cutlass, she left the Long Patrol to travel with Scott Longears, an attractive rogue she had seen before, and had immediately fallen in love with the witty, charming hare. She married him, changing her name from Bobtail to Longears at the grand wedding held at Salamandastron. Quickbow's mother's mother was Sinber Bobtail.
Quickbow's History:
Before Quickbow:
Quickbow was born to wandering hares, Scott and Stephney Longears. His family often lived off the land, occasionally stopping at Salamanmdastron or Redwall. They didn’t have much interest in other creatures, not exactly shunning them, but just didn’t have very good social skills.
Dibbun Seasons:
His wandering parents left Quickbow at Redwall Abbey so they could go off adventuring together, and they knew having a tiny infant hare would be too much of a hassle for them to be toting around. He was a quiet, respectable dibbun for a while, but that phase soon passed once he found DAB, a club for dibbuns who hate bedtime and baths. He made friends with crazy dibbuns, such as Jess Willowfwirl Tamastru, a tiny red squirrel. Marie Blue-Eyes, a spazzy highland mouse. The friends were many and loyal, Ara Treesong, Songwind Rosemelody, Midnight Magic, and many others. Thos were great days for Quickbow. He would steal food, run away from scary badgers, especially Lauren, the Right Paw of DAB.
Teen Seasons:
For Quickbow, the peaceful life was getting to be a bit of a bore, and Quickbow took advantage of every contest, game, feasts, or anything remotely exciting taking place in the Abbey, and was always overly eager to hear the news of travelers visiting. He never saw his parent’s visit, which slightly puzzled him, but since he never knew them much in the first place him being very young when they left him, he was not affected by this much, thinking they were probably somewhere, having a better time then him.
Adult Seasons:
Quickbow finally left the Abbey when a small band of questers decided to find the ancient remains of Brockhall, long since forgotten since the Glory Days of Mossflower Wood. However, after searching for many a moon, still not finding anything, most of them back to the Abbey, tired of living off the land, where you never know where you will sleep next, where you will get your food, and what if a band of vermin have a run-in with you? Quickbow on the other hand, decided not to go back, and instead lived his life as his parents did, wandering through the lands, learning of older generations and things to come. He saw the Northern Mountains, spoke many tongues, and ended his lie the way he wanted to, on the long road of discovery, of finding out about himself, and about the world in general.
Example of Role-playing:
Dibbun:
**Quickbow pounces, missing the small grasshopper by an inch. It was a new form of entertainment for the hare, and he loved to hold the wriggling bugs in his hand before setting them free. Quickbow creeps silently through the dew-covered ground, his footpaws making a soft swishing sound through the grass. The hare eyes a small bug on a rock, and dives towards it, paws outstretched.** I’ll get you, bug! **Must to his disdain, the grasshopper had already leapt away, leaving Quickbow’s nose on a collision course with the small rock.** Thud! **Quickbow rises slowly, rubbing his damaged nose self-consciously.** Stupid bug! **Quickbow positions himself stealthily in the ground, waiting for the next unlucky bug to pass by his small field of vision. Stalking grasshoppers was only one of his escapes from boredom, and he enjoyed it fiercely.** I will avenge, my nose, you stupid gwasshoppers!
