OOC: Talk about behind, Ketz. I've been gone forever! BIC: Dehumar moved stealthily closer and closer to the palace or fort. He was going to try to find the best loot in the whole place. He continued moving throughout the night through the town, using his stalking experience from the woods. He nearly needed to strip the ragged clothing he wore that kept him so warm in the forest, but the heat was bearable. He kept an arrow taught to his reflex bow, ready for anything. He had passed by several developing conflicts, but battle did not interest him. Well it did, but battle can get you killed. At times like these...one could get killed, or get rich. He continued on through alternating deserted buildings and burning structures. Avoiding beasts in this mess was fairly easy, if you were not illuminated by the bright fire. Dehumar purposely kept his eyes in the shadows; if you looked at the fire even briefly, you would be blind to the hidden. Ahh! Here was the fort. It looked most grand, backed by the night sky, illuminated in a sickly orange glow. It was quite a sight to see. A sick smile spread Dehumar's face. The moment would live in his mind forever. He continued stealthily onward to the fortress.

**Still standing in his defensive position, Jadak grimaces to see the badger turn his back on him. As soon as Adrean's arm lifts high into the air, Jadak growls his dissapproval. Boring holes with his eyes not only into the badger's back but Adrean as well, Jadak forces himself to turn around. The bloodlust was on him. Telling himself to think rationally, Jadak rememberd the badgers call for help. And Jadak would, at least, stop some of that. .**
**Apparently Jadak had remembered just in time, for as he approached the corner, a beast yelled and jumped out at him, aiming a diagonal slash at his neck. Stepping to the beasts swordside, he pressed down the enemy blade with his left saber and with his right severed his head from his body. Rounding the corner, two hares leapt at him. Parrying each strike with one of his sabers, he bounded between them, spinning in midair to cut deep into both their throats. A final enemy stood before him, a masked beast holding an exeptionally long spear. With no further delay the beast also leapt forward, but this one was quicker. Jadak roared as the speartip tore through the skin of his left shoulder, causing him to drop his left saber. Grabbing the spear shaft with his left hand, which had not impaled Jadak but cut him, he pulled the enemy to him, and thrust his own saber through the enemy's gut.**
**Stopping only to sheathe his sabers, he sets off again. Running hard south between the eastern wall and ramparts, Jadak's mind raced with solutions. Then a stationary guard came in his sights and instinctively Jadak flipped out a throwing dagger. The guard held a torch and was facing eastward. Thirty feet away, the beast slightly turned, which was all the prompt Jadak needed to end him. Hurling a dagger at the guard's throat, the victim turned just in time to witness his own death.**
**Crumpling to the ground with gurgling moans, Jadak quickly rushed to the victim before the torch could fall over the ramparts. Hooking the body with one arm, Jadak grasped his dagger with the same hand, and rolled him over the edge. As the body rolled off the ramparts, he jiggled the dagger to free it from the corpse's chestbone. Pressing his back to the wall he looked at what was near him. Wall, some more wall and... was that what he thought it was?? Yes... just what he needed.**
"Marc! Hey Marc! Any trouble over there?" the stoat on the southeastern corner yelled perhaps a hundred feet away.
"Not yet!" Jadak yelled back, grinning mischieviously.
**Sliding to a small space cut into the wall, he quickly thrust his dagger back into its sheath and, taking the barrel, proceeded to dump the oil within it on a trail back to the northern wall.**
"Marc! What're ya doin?!?" the stoat said, facing in his direction.
**Jadak looked over his shoulder as he ran the opposite direction, "Why don't you come and find out ya lily-livered furball!" **
**As the stoat began to yell and rush at him, he heard the yells of other soldiers. He grinned, this would be a good one.**
**Reaching the northeastern corner he turned quickly and threw his torch down upon the line of oil he had just made.**
** "Still chasing me, hairball?" Jadak taunted, as the hungry fire shot quickly at the soldiers like a sunray. Fire shot up ten feet high, dwarfing even Jadak. The eastern wall would not be used for reinforcements. Jadak laughed.**

OOC: dang. Sorry Adrean, I've been kinda busy with stuff IRL, sped read the posts and missed that part. You're right, I'm as good as dead right now, the swordsbeast, yourself, the archers, and the other guy.
BIC: Typhoon stopped himself in mid-charge. What the hell was he thinking? Big as he was, the badger could not even hold off four trained and well armed adversaries, let alone kill them. He was acting like a blundering berserker, charging into impossible odds. His expected reinforcements would not be arriving, the first wolf had seen to that. Before he could run back, two arrows from the ramparts hit him; one in the right collarbone and the other into the left shoulder. The pain was excruciating, though the badger did not show it.
That settled it. Typhoon ran back into the main fort building, slamming and bolting the solid wooden door behind him. Knowing that it would not last long against the attackers, the badger hastened through the hallway and to the main courtyard, where most of the Horde's forces were gathered.

*As the huge badger truns to flee back into the fortress, the two swordsmen Adrean brought with him move to strike, stopping in mid motion when Adrean barks an order, both immediatly backing off. As the badger flees however, Adrean drops his long sword and whips out a throwing dagger, hurling it at the badgers lower back. To complement the attack, two more arrows fly twords the badgers broad back, one aimed at the left shoulder, to take advantage of earlier damage, and the other aimed at the badger's spine between the shoulder blades. Adrean snatches up his long sword and looks at sabac, then twords the direction Jadak ran, nodding his head, and raising a questioning brow. Befor Sabc can answer thwe quirey, however, a ferret jogs quickly and silently up to Adrean, whispering in his ear. Adrean nods and motions with his hand, and the ferret disapears into the shadows once again. Adrean immediatly turns to Sabac.*
"Bad news, of a sort. Their forces seem to be moving back this way, twords the castle to regroup. We will be badly outnumbered, if we continue this much longer."
*He shrugs*
"Fine by me, of course. I love a good fight. And I'd love to get me a badger. Should we go and see what we can do for Jadak? Or do we continue to the objectives?"
*He asks useing a resectful and informative tone, respecting Sabac as the CO here.*

OOC: Do what I did. Pretend you were doing something all along! BIC: A bright flame apeared suddenly up on the ramparts of the fort, accompanied by frantic screams. Dehumar knew that was his own people's doing, and smiled. This would be fun. As he neared the walls of the fort, he spotted a side gate. He approached it and hid himself in the brush across from the gate. Ok, zhis is so vhar I've gone, but...vhat now? I can' pick locks. Meybe ifv I can get them to come out, meybe to investigate something--no, they're busy enough. Vhat on earth could-- The small gate creaked open, and Dehumar checked himself, making sure he was invisible. Yes, no beast five paces away could have seen him. From the gate several beasts emerged, being very quiet. He took aim with his bow and listened carefully. You are a lucky one, Dehumar. Jest don' screw dis.

OOC: (To Adrean) You might wanna edit that last post, I mean Typhoon's already in there and he's already making his way to the courtyard which would have to make him edit his post. Too much trouble for too little cause, bro. Besides your archers were on the wall, how could they shoot him when he went back in. Whatever, I probably just misread positions... (AND I don't want one of their best players dying right now... jeesh)
and...
(To Luna) I believe last you posted was on the ship, but it would be real cool if you were like almost to the Fort and bumped into Dehumar or somethin...
BIC: ** Turning, he looked to Sabac, Adrean and his swordsmen, and nodded. His grin was replaced with a grim line.**
** "Looks like we won't have to worry about the eastern wall," Jadak said, walking over to the door. "Now, to finish what we've started." **
** Whipping out both his sabers he hacked at the door, and thanked God it was wooden. After he had given the door a good measure of beating, his sword hit something metal sending a wracking vibration up his arm. Muttering to himself he kicked the wooden remains and stuck his hand through, unlatching the door. **
**Giving a mock-exhausted sigh, he looked to Adrean, "I should've let you do that." **

Sabac chuckled a bit, and tapped Jadak on the shoulder. he pointed up to an open window a few flights up. "yall know that its futile to have only one door, right? lets take the next best thing. there is a badger, and who knows what else in there with him, warnings been raised." he looked to the glow of the town, and up the wall. he slowly looked around the wall, spotting all the windows and ways up to go up. "cover me. i will go up, drop a line to yall. have your archers cause some mayhem on the anyone they see in the walls." he let a smirk cross his face and began up the walls. the town is going up too fast. we gotta get in now if we are gonna go in at all. if we dont, we will have to break for the boats and back to the Xsjado.

Only five beasts came out. Two were squirrels, one was a hare, and the other two were otters. All appeared to be fighting beasts. They spoke no words and moved silently out towards the front of the Fort, where they placed themselves in strategic hiding places, apparrently waiting for the Tatterackian soldiers. The gate was quickly shut, and for this Dehumar cursed himself. But there was still fun to be had. He took careful aim at the middle-most beast, a squirrell, who was not hidden very well from behind. He let the arrow loose. The barely audible arrow sound was drowned out by a piercing scream which emerged from the squirrell. He wasn't dead, but two others immediately gave up their positions to assist him. two more remained hidden as lookouts. Dehumar aimed again, hoping that the two sentries would not see him. He noticed a few heads appear over the wall, looking for the source of the scream. The two helped the wounded beast towards the gate. Another arrow loosed itself, and one of the beasts, an otter, went down cleanly, probably taken through the spine. Dehumar was nervous now, there was probably a good eye everywhere. While he was sure he would not be seen, his arrows could effectively trace his spot. They left the dead lie there, for any who would get him would join him, too. The wounded had nearly made it to the gate with the help of the other squirrel. As they got to the gate, it opened and Dehumar shot the unhurt squirrel and the mouse who had opened the gate on the inside. He had decided it was now or never. He held his bow in his right paw and drew his dagger in his left. He waited barely a moment--and by then he already had the sweats; his heart ws setting records of it's own--and he dashed accross the open to the gate. The otter and the hare suddenly arose, and lances seperated Dehumar's lunging strides. He dove for the opened gate, making quick but efficient stabs to the wounded squirells and mouse. He had to crawl three more paces to get inside. The otter and the hare had started running to the gate--they wouldn't throw lances with their comrades right there-- and got their just in time hear a bolt lock in place from the inside. As they began banging on the door and shouting things like, "Infiltration! Enemies inside the gate! Let us in!" Dehumar was breathing heavily, frantically trying to catch his breath while leaning against the door. A quick glance around told him that this was not the place to be. The inside wall and ramparts all openly faced the gate, and there was the inside fort about twenty paces away...He heard voices above him; realized that there were guards on the ramparts who were watching the events. They were right above him and couldn't see Dehumar yet. He quickly hid under the wooden stairs to the ramparts. Two guards came down in a few moments, and one readied his saber and the other threw open the gate. The hare and otter burst in, and all was a flurry of frantic words. Dehumar remained hidden while the others bordered on panic.

Typhoon cursed as he heard the enemy hacking at the wooden door behind him. It would not take them long to get through it. Hurrying himself on into the courtyard, he immediately grabbed a frightened stoat.
"You! Where's the Commander and the Second-in- Command?"
"I...I don't know... Second-in-Command went orf wid some o' the lads to the river... Commander's still in 'is room upstairs, I tink..."
Typhoon cursed again as he let go of the stoat. Things were not going well. In fact, they were going so bad that he was fast running out of expletives. The badger couldn't find Durriac, and the enemy had cut him off from Dirk, so, as the ranking officer, he had no choice but to give orders of his own to the troops. He found a capable noncom from his own company first.
"Sergeant Eridrag! Take a score of Terranyth and a squad of bowbeasts! Go through the ground floor hallway and kill any enemies you see in there and in the back courtyard! After that, I want you to personally take a squad of Terranyth and the bowbeasts and secure the upper floors before the enemy finds Dirk! Go!"
As the fox went about collecting his soldiers and organizing them, Typhoon found a burly weasel lieutenant from the Ontarian forces. The badger knew that the Ontarians were not under his command, but it was an emergency.
Lieutenant! I want you to split up your platoon into four groups of ten beasts each! Guard every door and gate, and send one group down the south wall, onto the west wall, then down the north wall! Secure that area and kill any enemies!
Contrary to his expectations, the weasel nodded, snapped a salute, and went about his business.

Can anyone who's been following the post all along give me an update on who's doing what, where? I don't have the time to go read through it all and figure stuff out on my own right now.

OOC: Uhh...Is...is there like a map of this place anywhere? I'm starting to get VERY lost! And besides, it's very important to know what side of the building I'm on, and I have a very capable commander named Typhoon to thank for that.--And Dirk, I've not bean keeping extremely close watch, but I've a general idea of everything. I'll PM you.

OOC: Sorry for the inconvenience... If you're on the side with the main gate, then you're on the south side. But sice you came in by a small gate, and you can't be on the east side or the north side, since we've RPed those places so that no one can come in unnoticed, then you must have come in by the west side gate.

OOC: Thanks for the outline Dehumar, it helped lots Map...ah, I've been meaning to get one for a while now. The problem with The Horde is that I'm only one of 4 leaders we've had (Saxifrage, Sarevok, me, Truecreek, me again), and the first two disappeared when they left, so I really have no idea what they had in mind. We've had all sorts of descriptions that have gone around... Maybe I can get a rough one worked out. I'll consult with my officers, see what we can get... I'll get an RP post sometime tonight or tomorrow, hopefully. I'm gone all tomorrow though, but I'll do my best.

Flame groaned and rubbed his eyes. Oh great,/i] he thought, Why do I have to fall asleep in the forge again and sleep till.. He looked around in astonishment, it was upstairs in the forge and he was on a bed! The lower floors showed flames and smoke was beginning to fill the room. The wildcat reached for his weapons and strapped on his crossbelts with the twin sabres on his back and two lines of throwing daggers on the front. He buckled on his belt with it's several daggers and quiver. His bow went over his shoulder and as he went to open the door, it slammed open and would have smashed the wildcat's face in, had he not gotten up his paws in time. It was Khan Kardez, the forge owner.
Khan had his leather armour on and his two favourite weapons on his belt and back. His heavy, twohanded warhammer was strapped to his back and the two parts of the massive, two sided stilleto hung on each side of his belt. The blacksmith had the strength to weild such weapons and he demonstrated it as he freed the two of them. The burly wildcat said, "Stip back, me laddie 'n ah'll take out is braw wall and we cun jump oot through the flames to the roof beside us. I's noot much of a drop." Hefting his huge hammer Khan took a swathe of the wall out and on his backswing, took out the top. The two wildcats leaped foreward and went though the much weakened wall, the flames and smoke to land on the roof of the nearby brewery.
The two cats ran across the rooftops, now glad that they had buckled their weapons on well as there would be a use for them soon. The presence of the Tatterackians was obvious when several arrows bounced off around them and one even hit the head of the huge hammer in Khan's paw. "We'd better get to the Horde Headquarters, they'll be needing us and everybeast they can get." The two beasts ran on until they had a clear sight of the gates. Of course, they had many beasts outside them. Flame slipped between two buildings and lowered himself part way by the 5 ft stilleto held by Khan. After he had gotten his paws in a window sill, Flame stabbed a dagger in to the woodwork for Khan to get down on. After the two beasts were inside and their weapons back to their owners, the two beasts made their way down to the street away from the gates. Flame knew all the sally ports well and it was only a matter of minutes before they had arrived near one. This one was iteresting, several hordebeasts were being put into panic by one archer. Flame and Kahn noiselessly sneaked up behind the beast and were about to attack when it made it's move. Flame and Khan ran back to the wall and Khan jumped up to hook his warhammer on to the wall and climb up, Flame just jumping up to grab a rock and climbing up as if the wall was a rock face.
Flame shouted, "Hordebeasts, we're hordebeasts." and the two leaped down to find the little pest who had caused such havock among the irregulars. As the two beasts came to the wallgate and Khan opened it, the babble from the two beasts was so iritating that Khan roared Shut yer gibbering mooths, ah saw the whoole dang lot of it." With the beasts ears less than a foot away from Khan's mouth, they were silent. Noo, ye can shoot the gate." As Khan's words were a normal volume, he sounded very quiet indeed. Flame started walking away from the stairs along the wall, checking any hiding places. Khan turned away from the frightened beasts who quickly obeyed the order of such a forceful beast. Khan started walking toward the steps.
OOC: that gives you a bit of space to run... you'd get smashed by a huge warhammer otherwise. BTW, Walls have stone steps that are part of them.

OOC:Thanks for the orientation, Typhoon. Helps a lot. Dirk: No problemo. Flameclaw: Thanks but No thanks! Lol...Dehumar's a stealth tracker and woodsmen, not a battle-hardened barbaric warrior with a seven-foot claymore! Lol, I hope I don't die... BIC: "Shut yer gibbering mooths, ah saw the whoole dang lot of it." This mighty roar stopped Dehumar in his tracks. It was the voice of a beast who meant business. One would typically not panic, would keep their head about them, would be watchful and wary of all things. Dehumar did not like having such beasts as enemies, they were a lot more trouble than they were worth. Crud. This can't end well. There isn't even a place nearby to hide...well, there's always this. He raised his bow, selected a special arrow he had taken from a beast he killed long ago in travels past. The arrow shaft was of a dark oaken wood, very strong, and the tip was a tapered steel designed for piercing armor. It's tip also had an elegant groove for poision, shaped like a deadly twisting vine. He had three such arrows. He notched the arrow to his strong reflex bow. The wood and bone composite construction bent silently against it's will, and Dehumar stood stock still, with a steady solid aim for the approaching wildcat's eye. As he stared down the shaft into the eye, he noticed the pupil and iris center themselves on the arrow. There was recognition in his eyes, and his facial expression would follow in a fraction of a second. He loosed the arrow and ran.

OOC: I'll try not to kill you... so long as he runs away, out of the fort, or alternatively surrenders and then escapes back to his comraides *cough cough*
As Flame heard Khan roar, a surpressed smile fought it way on to his features... That was the master smith he knew. The one who terrified his rivals and knew exactly how to take charge of a situation and had had a horrid night. Flame headed back to see what had been so stupid that would make his friend shout like that.
Khan was about to look under the wallsteps when he saw torchlight glint on an arrowhead... pointed at him! The wildcat had just started dropping to the ground when the arrow made a neat hole* in his ear
Flame had just stepped behind his friend when he saw the attack. Flame shouted, "Enemy in the fort, remain at your posts, fire at will." Trusting the immediate chase to the capible paws of the hordebeasts... {i}Did I just think capible?{/i] Flame asked himself as Khan got up. Khan growled "Ah'm fine, ah noo woon beast that woont be." His eyes locked on to the fast retreating figure and the burly blacksmith started to run. Flame was not far behind. As he ran, Flame unshouldered his bow and nocked and arrow, intending to stop at a useful point to fire.
*sure it wouldn't.. but that sounds better

"Shut yer gibbering mooths, ah saw the whoole dang lot of it."
Typhoon was having his wounds treated by a healer, but he instinctively jumped up from the ground and grabbed his sword when he heard the roar. He was about to say something when he recognised Flameclaw and the town's master smith at the west wallgate. The badger was about to go over to them when Flameclaw was hit by an arrow, and both wildcats started to chase the beast who had shot it. Typhoon sat back down. He had no doubt that the wildcats would get the intruder.
Typhoon watched as a score of large, burly beasts armed with sword and axe and clad in chainmail marched two abreast into the hallway with their shields up. They were followed by half a dozen bowbeasts with arrows nocked on the strings of their composite bows. The fox sergeant in charge of the group marched between his swordsbeasts and the bowbeasts, his two-handed axe at the ready.

OOC:Typhoon is a Horde Commander. Which for Dehumar is the same as Bad News Bears right now. Lol! Not looking too good. This can't end well. BIC: He had run as fast as he could in the opposite direction. He spotted a hallway not fifty paces away, and notched an arrow to his bow. He turned to the open doorway, but to his horror fully armed and trained soldiers wearing armor marched out two abreast. Not bothering to shoot when hopelessly out numbered, he sheathed his bow and continued sprinting faster with a renewed and reinforced fear to the north end, relying on the speed of a doomed beast to save itself. The Wildcat's pounding paws began to fade a small bit behind him. He heard orders shouted behind him; the clink of mail as the disciplined soldiers joined the score in the chase, and as the fox commander set the archer line in formation. Bloodcurdling roars and shouts came all about him; the pounding paws of the fastest runners coming ever nearer. Steel was banged against shields to intimidate. Arrows flew harmlessly behind, around and ahead, although one did narrowly miss the ferret. Dehumar looked desperately for an exit, preferrably into the fort as that was his ultimate destination. He felt the adrenaline running somehow higher, as if there was yet another level of undiscovered extreme limits. Sweat poured from his body, filling his eyes. He shook his head to clear his eyes, and saw several armed Horde beasts in front of him. He could just see the glow of another entrance in the fort, he could smell escape as strongly as burning flesh. The noise and calamity had already alerted these soldiers to something amiss, and they began to get in formation. It seemed Hopeless. But Dehumar kept running at them. Thank the stars, there was not an archer among these. His heart was beating so fast that Dehumar felt, given half the chance, it would jump from his body and outrun him. They were not fifty paces away with that distance closing fast. He vaugely heard shouts to the effect of "Stop! Surrender and live!" Not to mention others like "Die you filthy-raiding scum!" Spears and a pike or two of the pickett line dropped to chest level. He did not think at this point; he did. Had he thought, Surrender was the only logical option, on any level but suicide. He drew his bow and lunged under the pole-arms, rolling onto his back. He used his bow to block spear thrusts and then the innevitable sword hacks, but his momentum carried him right up to their feet without slowing down. It was somewhat ammusing, seeing about four soldiers in a line flip forward to their faces. But Dehumar couldn't get back on his feet in time: He was surrounded on the ground with steel sharp and clean. Their was no option of escape; it was surrender or virtual suicide. He curled up into a ball on the ground, clutching his racing heart and breathing heavily. As realization dawned on him that this was probably going to be a worse end than death, he suddenly screamed with the full force of all his body. Blood ran cold in beasts as the cry echoed off of the inner walls throughout the Horde's fort.
